Signing has paid off

I normally dont sign until my kids are at the screaming age and by then its just too late and annoying. But I have been doing the nursing sign to Jeremiah for a long time now and he did it yesterday. Yes I didnt know what he meant since he was doing it with both hands and it just looked like waving to me. But when I waved back he got a little mad like "no that not what I meant" or "I did that already now nurse me lady". So I held him to let him know I was proud of him for waving and he tried to eat me like normal and then did it again and it finally clicked...I'm a little slow...lol but I love it now he just comes up to me and signs and expects me to nurse him right then its funny and great!

I love it too! It can seem like too much effort and what's-the-point at first, but the rewards are great if you keep at it. Maren's first sign appeared around 7 months, and now she can sign and say over 50 words! The power of persistence!
It's a really great thing to be able to communicate with your baby in a whole new way, and connect on another level.

WooHoo! Now don't let anyone tell you you're stunting his speech. My mom gave me a hard time with Kyra and I just ignored her because I knew I was doing the right thing. Plus, it was just stinkin' fun to see in action.
